Renowned experts shared their knowledge and provided insights into the interplay between the immune system, inflammation and the gut microbiota on the one hand, and animal health and performance on the other.
Events Inside Phytobiotics Science & Research

Global teams and customers reunite at Phytobiotics’ international "IQ Inside" seminar. The event was held from September 22nd to 27th at the company’s production facility in Neuendettelsau, Bavaria, and in the Tyrolean town of Kufstein. The global team and their customers were invited to five days of networking, production tours and engaging scientific lectures and all participants contributed to make this an enjoyable and cheerful event.

Inspired by the challenges of the past years, the general topic of the seminar was the Immune System and seven invited speakers shared their insights into various aspects of this complex field. Professor Dirk Werling from the Royal Veterinary College in London and Professor Hans-Joachim Schuberth from the University of Veterinary Medicine of Hannover gave the opening presentations on the two seminar days.  Their talks gave the audience an overview on the interactions of stress and immunity and on the pre- and postnatal processes that program the immune system.

Professor José Eduardo Santos from the University of Florida, focusing on dairy cows in the peripartum period, elucidated the mechanisms through which the vitamin D and calcium metabolism influences the immune response. Dr. Christine Vuong from the University of Arkansas and Dr. Francesca Soutter from Scotland’s Rural College in Edinburgh talked about various aspects of health in poultry, bacterial translocation from the gut and parasitic challenges in broilers and layers.

Finally, Dr. Rebecca Robbins, swine health consultant from the USA, and Dr. Cleverson de Souza of Phytobiotics Brazil, gave insights on behavioral signs of immune challenges and on the statistical evaluation of animal trials in practice.

The Product Management team of Phytobiotics complemented and rounded off the program by showing the interconnections of the presented topics with the application of the product portfolio. Anti-inflammatory effects of specific compounds and metabolic relief through highly available vitamin D can support animals throughout numerous challenges. The presented studies on the products Sangrovit® and Active D gave room to constructive meetings and future partnerships.

The high-quality colostrum powder Immune Milk has a valuable role in the immune programming of young animals, while Plexomin® provides organic trace minerals to ensure the supply of essential components of the immune system throughout the production period. Finally, exquisite flavors and palatants of the Miracol® line ensure a consistent feed intake to maintain fitness and well-being of the animals.

Phytobiotics would like to thank all speakers and participants for their presentations and taking part in lively, interdisciplinary discussions.
